Environmental Law
The Firm’s attorneys represent clients at the local, state, and federal levels in environmental litigation, administrative proceedings, site remediation, brownfields redevelopment, environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, and counseling on environmental laws and regulations.
Land Use and Zoning
The Firm practices extensively in the areas of zoning and land use and regularly advises clients with respect to the full range of the applicable laws and regulations. The Firm is frequently retained for complex cases in which clients have significant financial, personal or other interests at risk. The Firm’s attorneys have counseled clients on numerous wireless communications siting and litigation issues on a national basis, and have successfully litigated several challenges to a variety of wrongful project denials. A significant portion of the Firm’s practice is focused on guiding clients through New York State’s notoriously complex regulatory maze. This includes compliance with New York State’s Environmental Quality Review Act (”SEQRA”), an environmental review statute which applies to virtually all development projects in the state. Our land use litigation practice also encompasses proceedings challenging and defending governmental decision under Article 78 of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules.
Real Estate
The Firm maintains an active commercial real estate practice. The Firm’s attorneys have represented lenders and borrowers in complex commercial real estate transactions, including loan syndications and participations, and have negotiated complex documentation accompanying the acquisition, financing, development, and sale and leasing of real property interests. In addition, the Firm has represented clients in the acquisition of real property for some of the most significant utility projects in the State of New York, including acquisition of real property rights through the eminent domain process of Rule 71.1 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
Corporate
The Firm provides a broad range of corporate legal services, including the organization of all types of business entities, mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, dissolutions, contract negotiation, executive compensation, protection of ownership interests, succession planning, and employment and labor issues. The Firm’s attorneys also provide general corporate counseling to business clients in connection with their strategic planning and day-to-day business operations.
Litigation
The Firm is frequently retained for complex cases in which clients have significant financial, personal or other interests at risk. We understand this, and prepare each case for trial with the sole objective of winning in the most cost effective manner.
